Elizabeth “Betty” Blum, age 96, of Monroe, WI passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Hospice Home surrounded by the love of her family.
Betty was born on November 25, 1929, on the family farm outside of South Wayne, one of ten children in a close-knit family. Family meant everything to Betty, and she remained especially close to her brothers and sisters throughout her life. She is survived by her brother, Jimmy, and sister, Polly (Bernie) Whalen. She was preceded in death by her beloved siblings, Francis, Anna Mae, Theresa, Joanie, Jean, Dorothy, and John.
She married the love of her life, Art Blum, on January 31, 1953. They shared 67 happy years together before Art’s passing in 2020. Together, they built a life centered on family, hard work, and enjoying life.
Betty is survived by her two children: Denny (Andrea) Blum and Dan (Carrie) Blum. She was a devoted and proud grandmother to Ian (Lisa), Molly (Collin), Dylan (Sam), and Trevor (Alex), and a loving great-grandmother to great-grandchildren, Finley, Cooper, Avianna, Abigail; who brought her tremendous joy.
Betty worked side by side with Art in his construction business for most of their lives together. She was never one to sit on the sidelines and could often be found at job sites climbing ladders, painting walls, and staining woodwork. Her strong work ethic, determination, and willingness to help were admired by all who knew her.
She was known for her spunky personality, deep love for her family, and unwavering pride in her Irish heritage. Betty’s homemade pies were famous and eagerly enjoyed by family, friends, and neighbors.
She was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday April 30, 2026 at St. Victor’s Catholic Church of Christ the King Pastorate at 12:00 PM noon with Father Chahm Gahng as celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
A visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.
