Woodmansee’s hat trick highlights Sugar River’s 8-0 domination of WW/PE

NEW GLARUS — Senior Ella Woodmansee scored three goals and assisted on another goal to lead the Sugar River Raiders to an 8-0 win over Whitewater/Palmyra-Eagle in nonconference girls soccer on Saturday, April 18.

Junior Kate Parman gave the Raiders all the scoring they needed with a goal at 4:57, assisted by junior Holly Maynard. Woodmansee scored her first goal at 8:18, assisted by senior Cora Funseth, another goal at 10:22 assisted by senior Bailey McGuire, and a third goal at 35:48, also assisted by Funseth at 35:48.

The Raiders had a 5-0 halftime lead and built on that with three more goals in the second half. Junior Ellie Brenkman scored at 58:21 on senior Taya Gilbertson’s assist, Maynard got a goal at 59:04 on senior Kennedi Esser’s assist, and McGuire put the ball into the net on Maynard’s assist at 78:31.

Senior Savanah Minter played the first 40 minutes at goalkeeper and sophomore Marin Ramsay played the second half and tallied 40 minutes at goalkeeper. Neither player recorded a save as the Raiders posted their third shutout of the season.

Sugar River (3-1-1, 1-0) hosted Lodi in Capitol Conference soccer on Tuesday, April 21 before traveling to Mount Horeb for a nonconference match on Thursday, April 23.
