Pointers top NG; Belleville takes two

MINERAL POINT — The New Glarus Glarner Knights had a 7-5 led in the sixth inning over the Mineral Point Pointers in nonconference baseball on Thursday, April 9. But, the Pointers scored six runs in the sixth inning to take an 11-7 win over the Knights.

The Pointers scored two runs in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. New Glarus took the lead, 3-2, in the top of the third when Ethan Colstad doubled, scoring two runs, and Brock Roth singled, scoring one run. The Pointers regained the lead, 5-3 with a three-run third inning. New Glarus jumped back into the lead in the top of the fourth inning after Nolan Julseth walked, Ethan Colstad grounded into a fielder’s choice, Braden Rear singled, and Brock Roth grounded out, each scoring one run and giving New Glarus a 7-5 lead.

The Pointers went off for six runs in the sixth inning, the big blow a three-run double by Brett Bossert.

Kamm Nehmer pitched three innings for New Glarus, giving up five runs on four hits. Brock Roth pitched the final three innings and took the loss. Roth allowed six runs on six hits.

Colstad went 2x4 at the plate with three RBIs and scored two runs. Roth drove in two runs with a base hit and finished the day 1x4. Shortstop Nolan Julseth reached base four times with three walks and a double.

New Glarus (1-2-1) had a Capitol Conference crossover game at home against Columbus on Tuesday, April 14.

Turner 22, Brodhead-Juda 4

BRODHEAD — The Turner Trojans scored in every inning and routed the Brodhead-Juda Cardinals 22-4 in RVC-Rock action on Thursday, April 9.

The Trojans scored eight runs in the second inning and seven runs in the fourth to run away with it. The Cardinals got all four of their runs in the second inning. Braylon Strehlow, Sam Searls, and Seth Coplien each drove in a run for the Cardinals.

Barneveld 11, Argyle-Black Hawk 1

ARGYLE — The Barneveld Golden Eagles grabbed an early 7-0 lead and kept the Argyle-Black Hawk Warbirds from getting back into the game with an 11-1 win in five innings on Thursday, April 9 in Six Rivers baseball.

Mitchell Johnson and Cole Dunlavey got the only hits in the game for ABH.

Monticello-Albany 13, Argyle-Black Hawk 3

MONTICELLO — On Friday, April 10, the Space Stallions took a 13-3 win over ABH in Six Rivers baseball. The Warbirds (0-4, 0-2 Six Rivers) got off to a good start with a 3-0 lead after the first inning, but, the Space Stallions came back with 11 unanswered runs over the next three innings. Tyler Patchen hit a double and drove in three runs and Presley Ladwig legged out a triple and drove in three runs for Monticello-Albany.

Center fielder Trent Bidlingmeier drove in two of the Warbirds three runs. Patchen pitched five innings and allowed three hits and three earned runs for MA (1-3, 1-0 Six Rivers).

Belleville 3, Monticello-Albany 1

BELLEVILLE — The Belleville Wildcats got all the scoring they needed with three runs in the third inning of a 3-1 win over the Monticello-Albany Space Stallions in nonconference baseball on Thursday, April 9.

Austin McKinely drove in two runs with a single and a double and picked up a save by pitching a scoreless seventh inning to preserve the win for the Wildcats. On the mound, Gavan Crum got the win by pitching six innings and allowed one run on two hits.

Tyler Constantini and Presley Ladwig each got a double, and Ty Durtschi got a base hit to account for the only hits in the game for the Space Stallions. Brodyn Bakken took the loss for Monticello-Albany with four innings pitched, allowing three runs (two earned).

Monticello-Albany had Six Rivers games scheduled at Pecatonica on Monday, April 13, and at home against Potosi-Cassville on Tuesday, April 14.

Belleville 10, Poynette 5

POYNETTE — Dawson Smith drove in two runs and Owen Griffin and Marcus Hebgen combined to hold Poynette to four hits as the Belleville Wildcats topped the Poynette Pumas 10-5 in a Capitol Conference crossover game on Friday, April 10.

Griffin and Austin Mckinley each hit a double and drove in a run as the Wildcats won their second straight game.

Belleville (3-2) had a game at Warner Park in Madison against Lake Mills scheduled for Tuesday, April 14.
