Monroe beats Oregon at the free-throw line

MONROE — With a 17-for-28 performance from the free-throw line, the Cheesemakers defeated the Panthers 59-54 on Tuesday, Dec. 20.

At one point in the first half, Oregon led 21-17. Monroe finished the half on a 10-2 run to take a 27-23 lead into the locker room. From then on, the Cheesemakers never trailed.

Tucker Markham led the offense with 17 points, going 2-for-3 from beyond the arc and 7-for-12 at the free-throw line. James Seagreaves and George Brukwicki tallied 14 points each, while Seagreaves recorded a double-double with a team-leading 12 rebounds. Charlie Wiegel was the fourth Cheesemaker in double figures with 10 points.


SHULLSBURG 62, MONTICELLO 40

MONTICELLO — The Ponies took a 4-0 early lead in its matchup with the Miners, but Shullsburg scored 14 and 17 unanswered points for the win on Tuesday, Dec. 20.

Ryer Indergand led Monticello with 12 points and five rebounds. Jackson Eyler trailed with eight points and six rebounds. Peyton Smith grabbed a team-leading six boards.


WARREN 69, ARGYLE 52

ARGYLE — The Orioles let a halftime lead slip away, falling to the Warriors on Monday, Dec. 19.

William Helfvogt recorded 23 points on the night, 15 of them coming from beyond the arc. Ike Waage also scored in double figures with 12 points. Conversely, Warren had four players in double figures. Treyton Pafford led them all with 21 points.


WISCONSIN HEIGHTS 64, PECATONICA 50

MAZOMANIE — The Vikings dropped a nonconference game to the Chiefs on Monday, Dec. 19. Pecatonica was outscored in both halves 30-24 and 34-26.

Coy Ruegsegger led the team with 18 points, followed by Tyler McKeon with 15. Jameson Johnson totaled eight, while Connor Sass had six. Elijah Knutson scored the final three points.
