JUDA — Brynn Harris allowed just one run on one hit and Adrionna Ubersox drove in what proved to be the winning run in the third inning as Argyle-Black Hawk edged Juda-Albany 2-1 in Six Rivers Conference softball on Tuesday, May 19.

Harris pitched a complete game one-hitter with one walk and six strikeouts to out-perform Ryleigh Brown of Jubany, who allowed just two runs on four hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

The Orioles got two runs in the third inning after Brianna Wilhelmson singled and advanced to second on a sacrifice by Sam Kammes, who reached on a throwing error by the Panthers. That allowed Wilhelmson to score. Jerzey Wiegel came into the game as a courtesy runner for Kammes. After an intentional walk to Kylie Butler, Claire Holmes put down a sacrifice to advance Wiegel to third and Butler to second. Ubersox followed with a base hit to left to score Wiegel and give ABH a 2-0 lead.

Jubany scored one run in the bottom of the third as Emersen Butts reached base on an error and scored on an error on a ball hit by Phoenix Homan. Harris slammed the door on the Panthers after that, retiring 14 batters in a row.

Argyle-Black Hawk coach Heidi Ganshert said it was a high-quality win for her team and they don’t come easy.

“No, they’re really not easy and Juda-Albany is a fantastic team. Both teams played really well. It was a fun game to be a part of,” said Ganshert.

Argyle-Black Hawk improved to 12-13 with the win and had a scheduled nonconference game at home against Cuba City on Thursday, May 21. Juda-Albany dropped to 15-7-1 and scheduled to host Evansville in a nonconference game also on May 21.

Juda-Albany 7, Johnson Creek 3

Lexi Eastwood doubled twice and walked twice and drove in two runs and Olivia Brooks was 2x4 with a double and an RBI to spark Jubany to a 7-3 win over Johnson Creek in the first game of the Jubany Triangular on Saturday, May 16 in nonconference action.

Ryleigh Brown and Emerson Briggs combined to limit Johnson Creek to three runs on eight hits.

Clinton 10, Juda-Albany 4

The Clinton Cougars got out to a 5-2 lead over the first three innings and rolled to a 10-4 win over Juda-Albany in the Jubany Triangular on Saturday, May 16.

The Panthers closed the gap to 5-4 with two runs in the fourth inning, but Clinton closed the door on a comeback by scoring four runs in the sixth inning.

Lexi Eastwood and Sophie Bolton each hit a double and scored two runs for Jubany.

Cuba City 13, Darlington 2

The Cuba City Cubans quickly got a 7-2 lead in the first two innings and cruised past the Darlington Redbirds 13-2 in six innings in SWAL conference softball on Monday, May 18.

The Redbirds scored both of their runs in the first inning as Ali Wineland’s base hit scored Lilly Ritchie and Isabelle Winkers. The Redbirds were silenced by the Cubans the rest of the way.

Josie Kruser hit a home run to lead Cuba City.

Darlington (4-14, 2-10) is a No. 6 seed will play at Deerfield (No. 3 seed) in a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal on Tuesday, May 26.

Evansville 12, Monticello-New Glarus 7

The Evansville Blue Devils came back from an early 4-2 deficit to win 12-7 over the Monticello-New Glarus Ponies in nonconference softball on Monday, May 18.

Annie Olson went 2x4 with a triple and scored a run and Rayna Vogel doubled twice and drove in two runs for the Ponies. Brooke Ryan also had two RBIs for Monticello-New Glarus.

Evansville came back by scoring three runs in the fourth and five runs in the sixth.

Monticello-New Glarus (15-5) played a Six Rivers Conference doubleheader at home against Highland on Tuesday, May 19.

Monticello-New Glarus 10, Highland 3

Monticello-New Glarus 16, Highland 10

The Monticello-New Glarus Ponies closed the regular season with a doubleheader sweep over the Highland Cardinals in Six Rivers Conference action on Tuesday, May 19.

In the first game, Molly Olson went 3x3 with a triple and scored three runs to lead the Ponies to a 10-3 win. Annie Olson, Mabel Jordan, and Rayna Vogel each drove in two runs. Malorie Miller pitched a complete game and allowed three runs on seven hits, no walks, and three strikeouts.

In the nightcap, the Ponies scored eight runs in the second inning plus four more runs in the third inning which offset eight runs scored by Highland in the fifth inning to get a 16-10 win.

Malorie Miller drove in two runs and Molly Olson scored four runs to lead the Ponies. Eliza Legris hit an RBI double in the third inning and Olivia Merten got two hits and two RBIs for MNG.

Monticello-New Glarus (17-5, 14-4 Six Rivers) is a No. 3 seed in the WIAA Division 3 playoffs and hosted No. 6 seed Cambridge in a regional semifinal on Tuesday, May 26.

Pecatonica 14, Benton-Shullsburg 4

Benton-Shullsburg 22, Pecatonica 21

The Pecatonica Vikings split a doubleheader with Benton-Shullsburg on Tuesday, May 19, winning game one 14-4 in six innings and losing a slugfest in game two, 22-21.

The Vikings are a No. 8 seed in the WIAA Division 5 playoffs and were scheduled to play a regional quarterfinal at home against No. 9 seed Southwestern on Thursday, May 21.
