BARNEVELD - Juda-Albany senior Danielle Dieckhoff had an RBI single and junior Sayde McDermott delivered a two-run single to propel the Panthers to a 5-2 eight-inning win over Barneveld on Monday.
Juda-Albany (13-5, 10-0 Six Rivers East), ranked No. 2 in the Wissports.net Division 4 coaches' poll, remains unbeaten in conference.
The Panthers led Barneveld 2-0 going into the bottom of the fifth. After Juda-Albany committed two errors, the Eagles scored two unearned runs off sophomore ace pitcher Nicki Becker in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 2.
In the top of the eighth, Juda-Albany junior Sara Jordan singled. Senior Jessica Crull walked. Deickhoff came through with an RBI single, and McDermott followed with a two-run single to lift the Panthers to the win.
"To come back and get the hits in the eighth inning, the girls never gave up," Juda-Albany coach Bill Davis said. They did what they needed to do."
McDermitt went 2-for-4 with three RBI to lead the Panthers. Jordan also went 2-for-4.
Becker pitched a complete game to get the win. She gave up two unearned runs on five hits. Becker struck out eight and walked two.
"We went up against a really good team, and we let them hang around," Davis said.
Argyle 14, Monticello 4 (5)
MONTICELLO - Argyle's Sam Mick went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI to power the Orioles to a 14-4 five-inning win over Monticello.
Argyle scored three runs in the first and second innings to jump out to a 6-1 lead.
"Argyle is a good hitting team," Monticello coach Duane Garrison said. "Their No. 1 through 9 hitters all put the ball in play."
Argyle's Sloan Flannery went 2-for-3.
Argyle junior Kayla Butler-Paulson pitched a complete game to get the win. She gave up just one earned run on four hits. She struck out three and walked one.
Monticello junior Jessie Garrison went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Garrison hit a three-run home run in the third. The Ponies left seven runners on base, including leaving the bases loaded after scoring one run in the first.
"The bottom of our lineup is just not producing for the top," Duane Garrison said. "We left 17 runners on against Pecatonica last week. If you are not hitting with your No. 1 through 9 hitters then it's hard to beat a team like that. It's been our M.O. this year that we can't get that big hit."
Garrison pitched a complete game and surrendered 14 runs on 16 hits. She struck out one and walked seven.
"Jessie struggled," Duane Garrison said. "She couldn't throw strikes. We didn't have a good mental game."
Black Hawk 14, Pecatonica 5
BLANCHARDVILLE - Black Hawk senior Brooke Moore went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI to lead the Warriors over Pecatonica.
Pecatonica scored two runs in the second inning to take a 2-0 lead. Black Hawk tied it with a two-run third. The Vikings scored two runs in the fifth to take a 4-3 lead. Black Hawk put the game away with a nine-run sixth. The Vikings were plagued by 10 errors, including six in the sixth.
"We started off very sluggish," Black Hawk coach Jim Baumgartner said. "I was very pleased to see our girls start hitting the ball hard in the sixth and take advantage of their mistakes."
Black Hawk senior Tatum Jackson was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, one RBI and two walks.
Black Hawk senior Rachel Ritschard pitched a complete game to get the win. She gave up five unearned runs on seven hits. She struck out two and walked two.
Pecatonica senior Kailee Schraepfer went 2-for-4 with one RBI to lead the Vikings.
