MONROE - The Monroe girls basketball team had four players garner Badger South honorable mention all-conference accolades recently.
The four honorable mention all-conference players for the Cheesemakers include senior Alacia Keegan, junior Brooke Adams, sophomore Lexi Hilliard and freshman Sydney Mathiason.
Monroe finished the season 8-15 and fifth-place in the seven-team Badger South. Mount Horeb knocked off Monroe 54-31 in a WIAA Division 2 regional quarterfinal.
Keegan averaged 8.8 points per game. Hilliard as a sophomore took on point guard duties for the Cheesemakers and averaged 8.4 ppg and Adams averaged 6.5 ppg. Mathiason (6 ppg) made an immediate impact in her first season.
Madison Edgewood, the co-conference champion with Oregon at 10-2, had three players named first team all-conference including senior Emma Meriggioli, sophomore Estella Moschkau and sophomore Katie Meriggioli. The three unanimous first-team all-conference players were Emma Meriggioli, Oregon senior Riley Rosemeyer and 6 foot-1 Stoughton sophomore Marissa Robson.
