Brodhead-Juda, Albany run well at big meet

BRODHEAD - The Brodhead-Juda girls track team finished second at the Jim Church Invitational Friday.

Brodhead junior Shannon Klein won the 200-meter dash (:27.6) and the 400 (1 minute, 1.3 seconds).

McFarland edged the Cardinals to win the invite 122-112. Brodhead's Heather Clankie finished first in the discus (124-feet, 3-inches) and Rachel Nolte won the pole vault (8-6).

Mariah Ahrens took second in the high jump (4-10) and she teamed with Amanda Johsnon to help the Cardinals win the 1,600 relay (4:30.3). Anne Hamel finished second in the 300 hurdles (:54.8).

Albany, which finished seventh at the nine team meet with 40 points, had several top performances. Albany junior Rosy Bauman finished second in the 3,200 (13:09) and Jessica Mauerman was third in the 1,600 (6:06.3). The Comets also finished third in the 3,200 relay with a time of 10:54.4.

Clinton outdistanced Beloit Turner for the boys team title 138-118. Brodhead-Juda finished fifth with 89 points and Albany was seventh (52).

Albany's Drew Mather took first in the 1,600 with a time of 4:45.8 and he was third in the 800 (2:09.9). Brodhead-Juda's Michael Peterson finished first in the triple jump (40-8) and second in the high jump (5-6). Mitch Wiesenberg won the pole vault after clearing 11-0. The Cardinals added second place finishes in the 800 and 1,600 relays.
