Brandli III earns double hat trick

MONROE - The Monroe Blues adult full-check hockey team hung on for a 9-7 win Friday over the Calumet Wolverines.

The Blues (4-9) got first-period goals from Travis Rayala, Gottlieb Brandli III and Joey Tidei with assists going to L.P. Govian, Scotty Perkins and Brandli III to give Monroe a 3-1 lead.

In the second period, Calumet was the first to score with Monroe putting the next three in the net to take a 6-3 lead. Brandli III scored two goals in the second period, and Rayala had one. Picking up assists were Eric Lindberg, Travis Davenport, Phil Hoss and Rayala.

Brandli III was the first on the board scoring a goal in the third period. Calumet scored twice to cut the Blues' lead to 7-5.

Brandli III scored two more goals in 15 seconds to give him a rare double hat trick. Rayala and Davenport also were credited with playmakers with three assists. Goalie Christian Blick turned away 60 shots. Calumet did outshot Monroe 60-35.

The Monroe Blues will be at SLICE at 7:30 p.m. Friday against the DePere Deacons and 7:30 p.m. Saturday against the Fox Cities Ice Dogs.
