BELOIT - The only thing that was missing in Beloit was a gigantic wooden horse.

The Trojans of Beloit Turner (8-11, 7-7 Rock Valley) sprung a 20-10 trap in the fourth quarter to pull out a Rock Valley victory on their home floor. They defeated Brodhead 57-56.

Turner senior Reggie Cassimere scored 17 points to lead all scorers, and Trenton Klein led the Cardinals with a dozen. Brodhead took a 17-9 lead through the first quarter but only hit seven of its 19 free throw attempts.

Southwestern 59, Darlington 55

Redbirds freshman Alex Erickson finally got the best of his big brother, but his club couldn't come back to knock off the Wildcats on the road.

Michael Tranel led all scorers with 25 points for Southwestern, while the Redbirds point guard Erickson scored 15 points to the 13 dropped in by his senior brother, forward Mitchell.

Southwestern travels to Monticello for an intriguing first-round, WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal, while Darlington entertains the aforementioned Beloit Turner club in a Division 3 quarters matchup.

Barneveld 56,

New Glarus 35

With stingy defense, Kyle Thompson and Co. won the battle within the half-circle Thursday night.

The Barneveld senior hit the only 3-pointer of the non-conference game and put up a game-high 22 points, while no Glarner Knight scored more than seven points.

New Glarus (9-10 overall) hung tough, down just 18-14 at half, but a 22-10 fourth-quarter Barneveld (13-6) surge put things on ice.
