SOUTH WAYNE - And the season series goes - along with the season-sustaining victory - to the Warriors.

Second-seeded Black Hawk rallied from a 10-point, third-quarter deficit against No. 3 Monticello with a 14-4 third quarter and earned a 47-46 WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal victory at home Thursday night.

Joey Hartwig led Black Hawk (20-2) with 16 points as the team only had four players score in the victory. Michael Place followed with 13, Taylor Goodman had 10 and Alex Abraham rounded it out with eight.

Monticello (16-6) trailed 32-30 going into the final quarter, but couldn't get over the hump. Jacob Edge followed up his 22-point performance against Black Hawk on Feb. 7 with a team-high 15 points. The Warriors limited sharpshooting senior D.J. McGowan to seven points and two 3-pointers.

The Warriors will square off against undefeated Benton, which defeated Pecatonica, 58-45, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Darlington for the regional championship. The Zephyrs defeated Black Hawk 57-51 in their regular-season finale, a Six Rivers crossover matchup between divisional champions.
