BARABOO - The Cheesemakers struggled with runners in scoring position once again, falling to Baraboo 7-3, Tuesday.
Monroe loaded the bases in the first and fourth innings, coming away with just three runs combined in those frames.
"We're still lacking that big clutch hit," head coach Dustin Huffman said. "Hopefully someone steps up and others will follow."
Logan Wells took the loss on the mound, going six full innings, allowing eight hits and three walks while striking out three.
"Wells pitched fairly well. Baraboo is just a good hitting team. His curve got wild in the fifth and he started leaving pitches up, and they just hammered it," Huffman said. "Our center fielder misplayed a few balls that fell in for hits. Those hits turned around to bite us."
Baraboo scored two in the second, one in each of the third and the fourth, and three more in the fifth.
Monroe had seven hits, two of which coming off the bat of Drew Nafzger. Mitch Marty added a double.
