Argyle survives Ponies

ARGYLE - A combined five hits from Miken Godfrey and Cam Treuthardt propelled the Argyle baseball team to a 7-3 win over Monticello in Six Rivers East action Thursday.

Godfrey went 3-for-4, and Treuthardt went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI.

Monticello junior Braden Gafner had an RBI single in the first inning to give the Ponies a short-lived 1-0 lead.

The Orioles scored on an error in the first inning, and then Treuthardt and freshman Gavin Johnson each had an RBI singles in a four-run second.

Johnson finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Argyle's Mitch Flannery pitched six innings to pick up the win. He gave up one earned run on six hits, struck out seven and walked three.

Both Monticello's Trenton Ryan and Gafner went 2-for-4.

Gafner pitched four innings for the Ponies and gave up five earned runs on seven hits. He struck out five and walked five. Monticello's Kollin Klitzke tossed 12⁄3 innings in relief and gave up one earned run on two hits. He struck out two and walked none.
