Jerold “Jerry” Burmeister, 81 of Monroe, WI passed away on Friday, April 17, 2020 at Aster Senior Living in Monroe, WI. Jerry was born on October 19, 1938 in Monroe, WI to Cecil and B. Lillian (Johnson) Burmeister. Jerry graduated from Warren High School. On March 30, 1957, he married H. Carol Hutchinson in Darlington, WI. Jerry took over the family business Burmesiter Implement in 1962 after the unexpected death of his father.
He was a John Deere salesman for many years. Jerry sold the business in 1972 and farmed outside of Apple River until 1976. At that time, Jerry continued selling John Deere equipment for Foster Implement. Jerry purchased Foster Four Season’s, which later became Burmesiter Farm Equipment. Jerry also sold John Deere equipment for Stateline Equipment in Janesville and Evergreen Equipment in Monroe.
Jerry and Carol enjoyed snowmobiling, playing euchre with friends. They moved to Monroe in 1997 where they made many new friends and enjoyed coffee time at the Red Apple. In 2017, Jerry moved to Aster Assisted Living. Jerry was an avid Green Bay Packer fan as well as a Nascar fan. After moving to Aster, Jerry became a Milwaukee Brewer fan as well as enjoyed the music and outings that Aster provided.
Jerry is survived by daughter Jackie (Carl) Andrews and son Dick (Cathy) Burmeister, both of Warren, IL, one granddaughter; Elizabeth of Lansing, MI, sisters; Luan (John) Beach, Marge (Joe) Goldhagen, Mary (Gene) Gille, brother; Lewis (Connie) Burmeister, sisters-in-law; Lindy (Bob) Johnson, Cathy (Larry) Straight, step-grandchildren; Keri Wolf, Shelly Andrews, Rhonda Andrews, Kari (Nick) Coffey, Jason (Chelsea) Hartzell, Brandon (Ashley) Hartzell, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Carol, on March 22, 2010, his parents, a sister Susan Parkinson, and brother Bill Burmeister.
The family would like to thank the staff at Aster Assisted Living for the great care he received during his stay.
A private family service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Warren, IL.
Pastor Roger Bronkema will officiate the services.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
