Jean K. Zimmerman, age 81 of Monroe passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022 at her home. She was born on April 23, 1941 the daughter of Frank and Blanche (Curran) Crotty. She graduated from South Wayne High School.
Jean cherished her beloved husband Roger who were King and Queen of South Wayne High School Prom of 1959. They later married on May 4th, 1963 at St. John’s Catholic Church in South Wayne. Their life together was a true love story that was real and beautiful, and we were lucky to witness and learn from it.
Jean started working at Commercial Bank in Monroe; she later spent the early years in marriage as a farm-wife and homemaker. She was very proud of her red and white Holstein cows, which she loved to milk. She was a great cook and baker; she especially enjoyed making her grandkids cookies. No one ever left her home hungry, even if it was a dried-up hamburger.
Jean was known to tell it like it is, no holding back. She took great pride in keeping up with genealogy on the Crotty side, putting in her book as soon as someone would call on a birth or death.
She expressed her love and was very proud of her Irish heritage. She was a loyal and devout Catholic and treated everyone with kindness, generosity, and selflessness. She was a member of St Victor’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Knights where she served as secretary. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren meant the world to her no matter where they were or what was going on.
She believed in hard work and was a woman of very few possessions and felt her love of her family, siblings, and friends were without a doubt, the greatest wealth she possessed.
Jean is survived by her husband, Roger; children, Brad (Angie) Zimmerman of Browntown, Shan (Randy) Quies of Winslow, Molly (Ron) Tourdot of Monroe, Patrick (Tammy) Zimmerman of Monroe; grandchildren, Abbie (Aleron) Wasserstrass, Brooke Zimmerman, Derek Quies, Ashley (Rusty) Wire, Cody Tourdot, Nigel Tourdot, Brett (Emery) Zimmerman, Alayna Zimmerman, Danica Zimmerman; great-grandchildren, Jaxyn Mau, Cash Wire, Everett Wire, Evelyn Quies, and Olive Wasserstrass; brother, James (JoAnn) Crotty of South Wayne; sisters, Betty Blum of Monroe, Polly (Bernie) Whalen of Monroe, and Dorothy Meyers of Monroe; and sister-in-law, Jane Crotty of South Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Francis, and John Crotty; sisters, Anna Mae McDonald, Therese Figi, and Joan Figi.
