Jean Athleen (Yeagle) Winkler, age 99, crossed over to her heavenly home on April 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at St. Mary’s hospital in Madison. She had a long and full life, enjoyed meeting people, and was a blessing to every life she touched.

Jean was born on October 31, 1926 in Orangeville, IL to Perry and Rachel (Clarno) Yeagle. They moved to Freeport, IL where she met and married the next door neighbor John Winkler on September 7, 1948. They lived and worked in Freeport for several years and then moved to Monroe, WI.

She was a member of the Monroe Bible Church, attended Stateline Women’s Connection luncheons, helped at school, and was a 4-H leader helping friends and volunteering in many activities. She developed the “Garden Path” in Browntown, WI where she spent hours weeding and planting flowers. She was a wonderful cook and loved sending rhyming cards to friends.

After John’s retirement, Jean and John sold the farm and traveled across the country visiting family and friends. The enjoyed spending their winter base in Apache Junction, AZ and summers in Wisconsin.

Jean is survived by four children, Craig (Judy) Winkler, Metter, GA, Kevin (Kristine) Winkler Monroe, WI, Cheri Winkler Hodgson Stockbridge, WI, and Kurt (Jennifer) Winkler Ballwin, MO; 8 Grandchildren; 11 Great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; son-in-law; brother, Theron; and nephews, Henry and Robert.

A service will be held on October 31, 2026 (on what would have been her 100th birthday), at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Clare Friedensheim Chapel, Monroe, followed by a Celebration of Life in the Activity Room.
