Fredrick William Lauper, age 81, passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospice in Madison, WI on Friday, May 1, 2026. Fred was born January 18, 1945 in Monroe, WI to William Fredrick Lauper and Viola Virginia Lauper. He married Linda (Webb), and they shared 58 years together. Fred grew up on the family farm in rural Browntown and graduated from South Wayne High School in 1963. He enjoyed music, playing accordion and cornet, and was active in 4-H showing cattle at local and state fairs. After high school, he attended UW–Madison’s Farm and Industry Short Course and later graduated from Green County Teachers College. Fred later returned to farming with his father, where he and Linda built their home and raised their two daughters, Dianna and Leslie. He was a proud dairy farmer and served on the board of the Davis Cheese Factory. He loved watching his daughters grow and being a cherished father. After selling the farm, Fred and Linda moved to Appleton, where he worked as a farm supply sales representative. He enjoyed connecting with farmers and took pride in his work. In retirement, they moved to Fitchburg and he worked part-time while enjoying time with family, pets, and sharing stories.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda and daughters, Dianna (Jay Johnson, Zachery, and Lucas) and Leslie (Dan Whitehead, Devan, and Aspen); and his devoted sister, Delores (Steve Balsley), and her family.
