Eldora Ruth Kundert age 91 of Lansing, Iowa, (formerly of Monroe, Wisconsin) passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Gundersen Health System in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She was born the daughter of Fred and Frieda (Bandi) Wellman on July 1, 1931, at the Deaconess Hospital in Monroe.

 Eldora attended rural one-room schools in the Monroe area through eighth grade. She graduated from Orangeville High School in 1948. After high school she worked at the United Telephone Company in Monroe for 2 years. Eldora then took a job as a bookkeeper at the Commercial and Savings Bank in Monroe, where she worked for over 40 years.

 On November 26, 1955, she married the love of her life, Arlie William Kundert at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Monroe. One daughter was born to this union. They were married for 55 years, until Arlie’s death in 2010.

 Eldora was best known for her love of cats, as well as her beautiful hand embroidery work. She also loved reading books and listening to county western music. In November of 2021, Eldora made the decision to move to Lansing, Iowa, to be closer to her daughter and family.

 Eldora is survived by her daughter, Arla Rae (Paul) Wagner of Lansing Iowa; 2 grandchildren, Dr. Monica Wagner DVM of Waukon, Iowa, and Hans (Emily) Wagner of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; 2 great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Amelia Wagner of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; 1 brother, Ernest Wellman of Medford, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.

Eldora was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie, her parents, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.

 A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 10, 2022, at the Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe with Reverend Todd Hackman officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.

 In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Green County Humane Society, St. John’s United Church of Christ, or the Lansing Iowa EMS.
