BRODHEAD — This spring offers a fresh opportunity for women to refocus on their health, confidence, and overall well-being. For many women over 50, changes in bladder and bowel function can quietly disrupt daily life — but they don’t have to. The Green County Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) is hosting an upcoming workshop designed to help women better understand these changes and take proactive steps toward improvement.
More than half of women over age 50 experience some form of incontinence. Despite how common it is, many women avoid seeking support due to stigma or lack of information. The result can be limiting — impacting social activities, exercise routines, and overall quality of life.
To address this, the ADRC is offering Mind Over Matter: Healthy Bowels, Healthy Bladder (MOM), an evidence-based program developed by the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. This workshop provides practical, research-backed strategies to help women manage or even prevent symptoms through education, guided exercises, dietary insights, and supportive group discussion.
The upcoming program offering will take place on Thursdays — May 21, June 4, and June 18 — from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Memorial Public Library in Brodhead.
Designed as a small-group experience, the workshop encourages open dialogue in a comfortable and respectful environment. Women at any stage — whether currently experiencing symptoms or looking to stay ahead of them — can benefit from the program.
Registration is required, and participants are strongly encouraged to attend all three sessions to gain the full benefit. A suggested donation of $15 helps support the program, and space is limited, so early registration is recommended. To register or learn more, contact the ADRC at 608-328-9499 or visit www.adrcgreencounty.org.
Take advantage of this opportunity to invest in your health — and move forward with greater confidence, freedom, and control in your daily life.
