Duane O. “Dummy” Walmer, age 91 of Brodhead, died Friday September 23, 2022 at Evansville Manor Nursing Home. He was born on May 2, 1931 in Albany in the family home, the son of Oliver and Anna (Schultz) Walmer. Duane married Mary Walling on September 17, 1950; he later married Dawn Lee on April 25, 1971 in Brodhead, she passed away May 10, 2019. He farmed in Albany on the family farm until 1972, when he moved to Brodhead and started working at Knight Manufacturing, working for 27 years as a welder, and served as President of the Union for 15 years. He continued farming in Avon Township for many years. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, yester-year auto club and enjoyed Allis Chalmers tractors.

He is survived by his children: Jeff Walmer of Monroe, Jerry (Amber) Walmer of Center, KY, Jordan Walmer of Brodhead, Debbie (Jim) Dickmann of Grafton, WI, Melody Stuessy of Monroe, Mary (Kirk) Olson of Sparta, Louis Becherer of Darlington, Charles Becherer of Camp Douglas, WI, Joe (Lisa) Becherer of Brodhead, Martha (Richard) Ladwig of Monticello, and Marsha Freischmid of Fulton, IL; 47 grandchildren; many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Jack Walmer; daughter, Cindy Lachapelle; grandson, Nathan Walmer, granddaughters, Nikki Walmer and Amy Wollums; great grandson, Jax Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Reverend Robb Kosky officiating. Burial will be in Avon cemetery. A visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Church. EVERSON Funeral Home is assisting the family.
