Dorothy M. Jensen, age 101, of Monroe, died Monday, March 11, 2024 at Monroe Hospice Home. Dorothy was born on March 24, 1922 in Monroe, the daughter of Henry and Edna (Melvin) Elmer. Following her graduation from Monroe High School, Dorothy married Frederick C. Disch on Oct. 18, 1940. The couple farmed in Exeter Township for many years until Frederick died on Nov. 29, 1977. Dorothy and Carl Jensen were married on May 19, 1984. He died on Jan. 30, 2002. Dorothy worked at Industrial Combustion for many years until retiring.
She was a member of Zwingli UCC in Monticello until moving to Monroe where she was a founding member of Monroe Bible Church. Dorothy loved Spring time and was actively tending to her flower beds until the age of 100. She was a prolific reader, enjoyed antiques, but most of all she had a strong love of family.
She is survived by her son, Dennis F. Disch of Pewaukee; step-daughters, Carol Janney of AZ, Barbara Brunner of Monroe; brother, Don Elmer of Lake Summerset, IL; seven nieces and nephews including a special niece, Rebecca Tschanz of Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; daughter, Susan M. Disch on Aug. 28, 2004; son-in-law, Bernard A. Reiss on June 1, 2020; a sister, Marian Zimmerman; and a brother, Henry C. Elmer.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Highland Cemetery, Monticello, with Pastor Dan Krahenbuhl officiating.
