He was born the son of Henry and Henrietta (Marks) Miller on May 2, 1932 in Nekoosa, Wisconsin. He was a 1950 graduate of Alexander High School in Nekoosa. David was united in marriage to Geraldine “Gerry” Rabe on August 9, 1953. They celebrated 69 years together before Gerry’s passing on August 25, 2022.
After graduating high school David moved to Monroe where he farmed for Bill and Elsie Schwartz in Clarno. He was then drafted and proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. In 1955 David started working for Stauffacher Motor Company as a salesman; when the business moved to what is now known as Alphorn Ford he became a Mechanic and Parts Manager. He later went on to work for Dorman-Roth Foods from 1968 until his retirement in 1994. In retirement he helped with custodial duties until 2002 at Union Presbyterian Church, where he had been a longtime member. He also taught Sunday School, Confirmation Classes, and served in the Session for the church. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 2312 in Monroe. He was also a faithful voter throughout his life.
After learning that his blood type was O negative, universal donor, he became a dedicated blood donor for the Red Cross; having donated gallons over the years.
David enjoyed woodworking and refinishing treasures that Gerry found and brought home to him. He will be remembered for his meticulous organization and his attention to detail.
