Craig Montgomery, age 72, of Monroe passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at his home. He was born on July 1, 1951, the son of John and Berneda (Koehn) Montgomery. He was a graduate of Lena-Winslow High School. Craig was united in marriage to Linda Barker on May 1, 1971 in Orangeville.

Craig started his working career with his uncle at Surge, now known as Westfalia Surge. He later became a co-owner, for many years. After 45 years of dedicated work, Craig retired in 2014. He enjoyed collecting Oliver tractors, he had everything from toy replicas to 11 full size tractors; he was also a member of the Midwest Oliver Club. Craig was a regular attendee of toy shows and auctions, and an avid Packer and Badger fan. He also liked doing yardwork and took great pride in caring for his lawn. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Craig is survived by his wife, Linda of Monroe; daughters, Erika (Byron) Harrell of Belvidere, IL and Kari (Deja) Montgomery of Holmen, WI; grandchildren, Bronson and Lydia Harrell, Tyler (Alyssa) Houskamp, Jayden Hobson, Josiah and Myles Rasmussen; sister, Julie (Larry) Harper; brother, Gene (Kathy) Beyer of Texas; cousin, Bev Witt; mother and father-in-law, Merlyn and Elizabeth Barker; sisters-in-law, Dianna (Jim) Setterstrom, Kathy (Jim) Matzke, and Vickie (Tim) Wedig; as well as dear friends, Paul and Linda Schmid, Ken and LaVonne Anderson, Bruce and Judy Meier and their children, Andrew (fiancé, Kim Becker) Meier and Katie (Zack) Turner; and  numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private family services will be held. A Celebration of Craig’s life will be held at a later date.
