Carole R. Zimmerman, age 94, of Monroe, died Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Aster Retirement Community. Carole was born on May 24, 1928 in Monroe, the daughter of Carl and Elda (Wyss) Wald. She attended Bethel Rural School and graduated from Monroe High School in 1946. Carole was united in marriage to Robert D. Zimmerman on June 19, 1949 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Monroe. The couple farmed in Monroe, Juda, and Brodhead before moving into Monroe in 1969. Carole worked seasonal at Swiss Colony and later 7th Avenue for many years. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, St. John’s women’s guild, Homemakers, and an African Violet flower club. She enjoyed being outdoors working with flowers, gardening, as well as canning, sewing, and cooking.
Carole is survived by seven children, Gary Zimmerman of Janesville, Duane (Crystal) Zimmerman of Monroe, Darlene Meyers of Darlington, Janet (Terry Anderson) Zimmerman of North Las Vegas, NV, Lois (Greg) Weier of Dodgeville, Keith (Jill) Zimmerman of Middleton, Alan (Wendy) Zimmerman of Oregon, WI; 20 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; sisters, Marion Heiman of Monroe, Jeanette Boop of Hanover, IL; sister-in-law, Hollis (Ed) Smith of Greeley, CO; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert, on Jan. 10, 2015; son-in-law, Eugene Meyers; and a granddaughter, Marcie.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Monroe, with Rev. Todd Hackman officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, on Sunday, September 11, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
