MONROE - The Friends In Faith Ministry of the Monroe United Methodist Church will be hosting a presentation on the architectural history of the city of Monroe titled "Monroe: Where the Past Meets the Present" at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25 at the church, 2227 4th St.

Matt Figi from the Green County Historical Society will give a virtual tour of Monroe past and present. Those attending will have the opportunity to view the ever-changing architectural landscape of the city throughout its history. As a local historian, Figi has spent many hours reviewing old photographs taken throughout the city and matching them to current locations. He noted that time has changed the face of Monroe: Some historical buildings have fallen victim to progress while others have seen extensive modifications to their exterior. Still others stand virtually unchanged as a testament to a different era.

The program is free and open to the public. A free-will donation will be taken to benefit the GCHS stained glass window restoration fund. Questions may be directed to Ranele Connors at
