Two Freeport women arrested on drug charges

Two women were arrested last week on drug charges in Freeport.

According to the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office, on at approximately 12:48 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, members of the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office Crime Suppression Unit (CSU), assisted by the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant at a residence in the 500 block of South Beaver Avenue in Freeport.

The search warrant was obtained as the culmination of an ongoing narcotics investigation by the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office Crime Suppression Unit.

During the search, investigators recovered approximately 10.8 grams of crack cocaine and one MDMA (Ecstasy) pill.

Following a review of the case by the Stephenson County State’s Attorney’s Office, felony charges were authorized against two residents of the home.

Chaquita C.R. Washington, 43, of Freeport, was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Farrita M. Venable, 54, of Freeport, was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine.

Following processing at the Stephenson County Jail, both defendants were released with future court dates in accordance with the Illinois Pretrial Fairness Act.
