Robert “Bob” W. Slocum, age 93, of Monroe passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026 at the SSM Health Hospital. He was born on January 17, 1933 in Plainfield, NJ, the son of Arthur and Ellen (Rawsthorne) Slocum. During his childhood, Bob’s family moved frequently. He spent his early years in Plainfield, New Jersey, before moving to Madison, New Jersey, where he lived until he was ten years old. The family then relocated to White House Station, New Jersey, followed by Upper Merion, Pennsylvania, before eventually settling in Evanston, Illinois. He graduated from high school in Evanston, IL and went on to attend Kendall College.

Bob was drafted to the United States Army in 1954 where he worked as an Anti-Aircraft Artillery Radar Controller. He was stationed in Germany during the Cold War; he was honorably discharged from the Army in 1962.

On May 6, 1957, Bob was united in marriage to Diane Becker. They shared many wonderful years together until her passing in 2001. Bob later married Lillian Larson-DeNure on March 27, 2004; they shared 18 happy years together until her passing in 2022.

Bob spent most of his career in sales. He began his career with DeSoto Chemical, where he sold paint products. He later joined Pratt & Lambert Paint Company, sold paint to retail paint stores, contractors, and interior designers. Bob concluded his career with Borden in the chemical division, where he specialized in wall coverings and wallpaper. He retired in 1999. Bob was a member of the American Legion in Argyle, and the VFW in Brodhead. In May of 2025 Bob was privileged to go on the Badger Honor Flight to Washington DC.

Bob is survived by his children, Elizabeth Henning of Monroe and Mark (Paula) Slocum of St. Michaels, MN; granddaughter, Jordan; step-daughter, Barb Hefty of Madison; step-daughter-in-law, Ruth DeNure of Monroe; and sisters, Carol Gabel and Suzanne Blee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Diane and Lillian; grandson, Jamie Legg; sister, Joan Nootbaar; and brothers-in-law, Robert, Dale, and Charles.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Peace Valley Lutheran Church, 113 W. 8th St. Monroe, WI 53566, with Pastor Josh Benish officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery with military honors.

A visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
