Rouby: Data center moratorium isn’t enough
The Delightful Irony in Trump’s War on EVs

From Robin Rouby

To the Editor:

I’ve just become aware that the Green County Land Use and Zoning board will be holding a public hearing regarding a moratorium on data centers in this county on Monday, July 13th at 3 p.m. at a room in the courthouse.  I find it extremely disturbing that the board would schedule such an urgent and important meeting at a time when very few people would be able to attend. I’ve been following this issue VERY closely all around the country, and this is exactly how boards have been sneaking approvals for data centers through BEFORE the public is given the opportunity to voice it’s opinion on this matter. That is precisely why the time and place of this crucial hearing is wholly unacceptable! I am not accusing the board of attempting to approve a data center, but in my opinion, everyone needs to contact the Land Use and Zoning board and demand this hearing be held in a place that can accommodate a large crowd and at a time when the largest number of people are able to attend. I understand that the board is unaccustomed to holding hearings outside their normal business hours — but this isn’t your normal, average issue! A moratorium isn’t enough. We need to do what more and more places around the country are doing and BAN data centers in Green County to protect our beautiful homes, environment and our quality of living.
