A simple stumble can have a lasting impact on a person’s independence, confidence, and quality of life. Fortunately, many falls can be prevented through education, awareness, and practical lifestyle changes.

The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Green County invites older adults to participate in Stepping On, an evidence-based falls prevention workshop that has helped thousands of older adults reduce their risk of falling and maintain their independence.

Designed for adults who want to stay active and confident, the workshop combines expert guidance, group discussion, and practical skill-building over the course of seven weekly sessions. Participants learn effective balance and strength exercises from a physical therapist, explore how vision and medications can affect fall risk, and identify strategies to make their homes and communities safer.

In addition to physical skills, many participants report increased confidence in everyday activities such as climbing stairs, walking on uneven surfaces, attending community events, and navigating unfamiliar environments.

Throughout the program, participants will:

● Improve balance and strength

● Learn ways to reduce fall hazards

● Understand the role of medications and vision in fall prevention

● Practice techniques for staying safe in the community

● Connect with others who share similar goals
