MILWAUKEE (AP) - Come Saturday, state residents will get a frigid reminder that it's December in Wisconsin.
A winter storm is expected to dump a foot or more in parts of the Badger State.
The National Weather Service says the Green County area could get between 4 and 8 inches starting Saturday afternoon. Blowing and drifting snow is expected into Sunday.
Several area cancellations were announced Friday afternoon in anticipation of bad weather:
* Black Hawk wresting at North Crawford Saturday has been cancelled. The dance at Black Hawk High School Saturday night has also been cancelled. No make-up dates have been announced.
* The Albany Madrigal Dinner Saturday has been cancelled. Tickets purchased for the Saturday show will be honored at the 1 p.m. Sunday show . Anyone who has previously purchased tickets for Saturday and is unable to attend the Sunday performance should contact the school at (608) 862-3135, ext. 2136.
* All Monroe Middle School tournaments Saturday have been cancelled, including seventh-grade boys basketball at Oregon; eighth-grade boys basketball at DeForest; and wrestling at Middleton.
