MADISON - Public hearings on proposed revisions to the Wisconsin's endangered and threatened species list scheduled for Tuesday, March 5 at various locations around Wisconsin have been canceled and a hearing has been rescheduled due to the potential for a severe winter storm.

The National Weather Service has issued storm advisories for much of Wisconsin through Tuesday. As a result, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has canceled public hearings on the proposed revisions to the state endangered and threatened species list that were scheduled by video conference at Milwaukee, Green Bay and Eau Claire and a public hearing scheduled for Madison.

The Madison public hearing will now be held at 5 p.m. Monday, March 11 at the State Natural Resources Building, 101 S. Webster St. There will be Live Meeting availability for those who are unable to attend in person. To request a Live Meeting link, contact Terrell Hyde at Terrell.Hyde@wisconsin.gov or 608-264-9255.

The public hearings are on the department's proposal to remove 16 birds, plants and other animals and add eight species to the list of endangered or threatened species. An additional 20 scientific names would also be updated under the proposed revisions. For more information on the proposal, visit dnr.wi.gov and search "ET list."

Written comments, whether submitted electronically or by mail, will have the same weight and effect as oral statements presented at the public hearings. Comments may be submitted until Thursday, March 7.
