FAYETTE TOWNSHIP — A motorcyclist was transported to UW Hospital via Med Flight after losing control of his bike and crashing into a ditch late Saturday morning.

Dennis M. Hartke, 67, Dubuque, Iowa, was traveling with a group of fellow riders on County F in Fayette township when his motorcycle went off the highway at roughly 11 a.m. Saturday, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Reg Gill said Monday that according to witnesses, Hartke “drifted a little bit” and hit gravel, traveling along the ditch line before eventually overturning. Gill said Hartke had life-threatening injuries and head trauma as a result of the crash.

Blanchardville EMS, Green County EMS, the Darlington Fire Department and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources assisted on scene.
