MONROE - Reviving the look, feel, excitement and sound made famous by his father - Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame member Bill Haley - Bill Haley Jr. recaptures the heyday and carries on the tradition his father started in the 1950s.

Bill Haley Jr. & The Comets will perform at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Monroe High School Performing Arts Center.

The original Bill Haley & The Comets scored their first hit with "Crazy Man, Crazy" in 1953 and reached stardom with their follow-up "Rock Around The Clock." The single sold an estimated 25 million copies and spent eight weeks atop the Billboard chart. The song was ranked No. 158 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time."

Emphasizing authenticity in sound and presentation, this "rock 'n' roll" show features Haley Jr. sharing the inside stories and historical content behind the songs he sings backed by his talented band The Comets: Kaj Hansen (saxophone), Mike Denaro (electric guitar), Christopher Davis Shannon (upright bass) and Rich Flamini (drums).

The show Haley Jr. will perform is much more than just a "tribute" to his father's timeless rock 'n' roll music; it's more a celebration of American music and a history lesson about the birth of rock and roll.

"I never wanted anyone to think that I was trying to exploit my famous father," said Haley Jr., "but I realized that I had a great deal of insight into the stories behind these songs, and being able to share those stories, the songs, and the history of rock 'n' roll has always resonated with our audience."

Haley was one of the pioneers of rock 'n' roll. The legacy he left behind is forever etched into these simple songs that have made generations of people dance and swing. They are raw with emotion, and they are one of the first musical recipes that made up what we now know as rock and roll.

Continuing on in his father's musical footsteps, Haley Jr. takes audiences back to that important time in music history in this concert. Audiences will hear classic favorites such as "Rock Around The Clock," "See Ya Later Alligator," "Shake, Rattle & Roll" and "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On."

Reserved seat tickets are $50, $35, $25 and $20 for adults and $10 for students 18 and under. Tickets may be purchased at the box office at 1315 11th St., Monroe, by calling 608-325-5700 or online at monroeartscenter.com.
