Fighting Fire In Sub-Zero Temperatures
Monticello Fire

MONTICELLO — Crews from multiple departments across Green, Dane, Lafayette and Rock counties responded to a house fire in the morning hours of Dec. 5.

The crews battled the fire, located in a wooded area on Gilbertson Road in rural Monticello, in sub-zero temperatures. At 8 a.m., the wind chill had temperatures feeling like -9 degrees Fahrenheit below zero.

The home, built in 1989, had an estimated value of more than $450,000. 

A MABAS Box 2 Alarm was paged. Some of the first responding departments for the box call included: Monticello Fire, Green County Sheriff’s Office, Green County EMS, Monroe Rural Fire District, New Glarus Fire Department, Mount Horeb Fire Department, Argyle Fire Department, Blanchardville Fire Department, Belleville Fire Department, Evansville Fire Department, Brooklyn Fire Department, Albany Fire Department, Brodhead Fire District, South Wayne Fire, Browntown Fire and Juda Fire.
