Monroe Police

MONROE — Deputies, Brodhead EMS and the Brodhead Fire Department responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash at 5:50 a.m. Feb. 26 on County G and Wis. 11, Town of Spring Grove. Jena N. Green, 22, Davis, Illinois, was northbound on County G approaching Wis. 11 and fell asleep and failed to stop at the stop sign. She crossed Wis. 11, entered the north ditch and collided with a traffic sign and a tree. No injuries were reported. Her vehicle sustained damage. It was towed. She was cited for inattentive driving and failure to stop at stop sign. Brodhead police assisted. 


Lafayette County Sheriff 

●  No injuries were reported from a one-vehicle accident at 6:47 a.m. Feb. 16 on County W, Town of Benton. Margaret D. Husemann, 18, Darlington, was traveling on County W when she entered the ditch and hit a power pole due to road conditions. Her 2001 Chevrolet sustained severe damage. It was towed. Benton Fire, Benton First Response and Hazel Green EMS assisted. 

●  Steven L. Brenum, 71, Gratiot, reported hitting a turkey at 3:43 p.m. Feb. 17 on Wis. 81, Town of Darlington. His vehicle sustained moderate damage.

● Eric J. Stauffacher, 27, Darlington, reported hitting a deer at 6:04 a.m. Feb. 19 on Wis. 23, Town of Willow Springs. His 2016 Ram sustained minor damage. 

On Feb. 20: 

● A two-vehicle accident was reported at 1:11 p.m. on North Judgement Street in Shullsburg. Gerald R. Leahy, 77, Shullsburg, was backing out of a parking lot when he hit a vehicle operated by Agnes P. Weber, 82, Cuba City. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. 

● A deputy assisted the Darlington Police Department with a two-vehicle accident at 6:31 p.m. on East Alice Street in Darlington. Louis W. Becherer, 61, Darlington, was driving a semi when he backed into a parked vehicle owned by Lori A. Garvey, 58, Darlington. Garvey’s 2012 Ford sustained moderate damage. It was towed. 

●  A semi accident was reported at 5:01 p.m. Feb. 21 on West Main Street in Benton. Jose Garcia-Garcia, 52, Chicago, was traveling on Wis. 11 when he failed to negotiate a curve causing the semi to exit the roadway and get stuck in the ditch. His 2005 Freightliner owned by Zion J. Trucking sustained minor damage. Benton First Response and Benton Fire Department assisted.

On Feb. 25: 

● Dakotah A. Meylor-Seeber, 21, Mineral Point, reported hitting a deer at 6:24 p.m. on County G, Town of Belmont. The 2017 Chrysler sustained minor damage. 

● Brent W. Isely, 33, Blanchardville, reported hitting a deer at 9:23 p.m. on Old Q, Town of Blanchard. His 2015 Chevrolet sustained minor damage. 

● Danelle R. Schmid, 48, Boscobel, reported hitting a turkey at 12:43 p.m. Feb. 27 on Wis. 23, Town of Willow Springs. The 2018 Jeep sustained moderate damage.
