MONROE — A Florida man who was returned to Green County to face 2016 child sexual assault charges faces 30 years in state prison for his alleged crimes, according to a preliminary plea agreement filed in circuit court.
Luke Zechariah Coldiron, 31, Palatka, Florida, was charged with a Class B felony count of first-degree child sexual assault as well as a Class H felony count of failing to update Wisconsin’s sex offender registry of his status as a sex offender.
Coldiron pleaded no contest to the sex assault charge. The sex offender registration felony was dropped but read into the court record on Thursday.
The judge in the case will decide whether to accept the plea during a final sentencing hearing set for 3 p.m. Oct. 30.
Coldiron was charged following an interview with a girl on April 13, 2016. In the interview, the girl claimed to have been molested by Coldiron on May 4, 2013; Coldiron was 27 at the time.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim said she was playing video games with Coldiron when Coldiron touched her inappropriately. After the incident, Coldiron reportedly told her to not tell anyone about it.
Coldiron was also discovered to have been convicted of first-degree sexual assault in Polk County, Oregon, in 2003. When Coldiron moved to Wisconsin in 2013, he failed to inform the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry of his status as a convicted sex offender, according to court records, which show he also has a previous address in Florida.
The maximum penalty the defendant could have faced is 43 years in state prison.
