MONROE - On Tuesday, Dec. 3:
John R. Alderman, 57, rural Brodhead, was cited for failure to notify police of an accident and failure to maintain control of a vehicle after deputies responded at 1:55 a.m. to a vehicle vs. power pole crash in Spring Grove Township that caused a power outage. The accident was reported by an Alliant Energy employee who located the crash while investigating the power outage in the area. Alderman was westbound in the W400 block of Rock Hill Road when the passenger tires left the north side of the road. He overcorrected and slid back across the road, went off the south side of the road and collided with a power pole. He fled the scene and was later located at his residence. He was transported by Brodhead Area EMS for treatment of injuries he sustained in the crash. The vehicle was severely damaged and towed. Investigation revealed the collision knocked loose a wire from the power pole, causing the power outage. Repairs were made and power was restored.
