Mary Ellen Laeser, age 95, of Monroe died on Thursday, September 28, 2017.  Mary Ellen was born on April 28, 1922, daughter of Frank and Reba (Teehan) Stoll. Mary Ellen lived through the Great Depression and World War II. These were the defining times in her life. Having lost two husbands as a result of the war, she knew the pain of loss. Mary Ellen dedicated years of her life to their memory by supporting VFW Post 2312 and their Auxiliary, which she was a past president. Mary Ellen was also very active with American Legion Post #84. Mary Ellen worked for many years as a nurse aide at Saint Clare Hospital in Monroe. After retiring, she spent countless hours volunteering for the hospital. Another important part of Mary Ellen's life was her faith. She was an active member of Saint Victor Catholic Church (St. Clare of Assisi Parish).

Surviving are her children, Patricia (John) Willcocks, Ruth (Richard) Wyss, Joe (Kara) Laeser and her sister Helen Flannery. Mary Ellen has six grand children and seven great grandchildren. Mary Ellen was predeceased by her first husband, Melvin Marty, and her second husband Walter Laeser; a daughter, Marilyn Sullivan; and brother, Delbert Stoll.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Monsignor Larry Bakke officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in Mary's name for St. Victor Catholic Church. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
