MONROE - A rural Juda man was listed in critical condition Friday morning, Aug. 10, after a car crash the previous evening.

Michael A. Bliss, 54, was flown by helicopter to Rockford Memorial Hospital for injuries he sustained after crashing a vehicle on County KS at County S in the Town of Jefferson. The hospital reported his condition Friday at 9:30 a.m. as "critical."

Green County deputies responded to the crash at 7:58 p.m. Thursday. The Juda Fire Department and Green County EMS were also dispatched.

According to the sheriff's department:

Bliss was eastbound on County KS when he lost control on a curve, entered the ditch and collided with a stop sign, then continued across County S and collided with an embankment, causing the vehicle to overturn onto its roof.

Bliss was partially ejected. He was not wearing a seatbelt and the vehicle was not equipped with airbags. The vehicle was severely damaged and towed.

The crash is still under investigation. Sheriff Jeff Skatrud said alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
