John F. Schindler age 69, of Monroe, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at his home. He was born February 22, 1940 in Monroe, the son of Frederick and Anna (Baumgartner) Schindler and attended Belleville area schools.
John married Shirley J. Wild on August 15, 1970 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Monroe. John drove milk truck, worked at Iroquois Foundry, and worked for the Monroe Street Department for 23 years until retiring. After retiring, John & Shirley did lawn care. John was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, was a Sunday School teacher, was a member of Monroe Auxiliary Police, and loved camping, spending time with family, sled riding, fishing, camping, playing cards, & traveling.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Schindler of Monroe, WI; children, Michael (Christina) Schindler of Neenah, WI, James (Miranda) Schindler of Monroe, WI, Deborah (David) Schindler-Padilla of Lincroft, NJ, Diane (Michael) Foley of Des Moines, IA, & David Schindler of Coeu d' Alene, ID; brother, Paul (Janis) Schindler of Battle Ground, WA; sister, Lou Ann (Roland) Samuelson of Pine Mountain, CA; and grandchildren, Kylie, Emilee, Dylan, Bryce, Whitney, Salvatore, Christina, Matthew, Mikaela, Joshua, Ty, Teryn, Gabriella, & Colton. He was predeceased by his Parents & sister, Sylvia.
John was a kind & loving father & grandfather.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Drive and 18th Avenue in Monroe with Rev. William T. Mike Heath officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
A memorial fund is being established in John's memory.
