Gary E. Schulz, 67, of Rockford, IL passed away peaceably Monday August 30, 2010 in his home after a short illness. He was born on November 15, 1942 to Lester and Mary (Schwitz) Schulz. Graduated from Orangeville High School and Omaha Trade School. Member of Tebala and Winnebago Masonic Lodge AF&AM #745. Veteran member of Tebala Drum and Bugle Corp. Avid Packer and NASCAR fan, enjoyed snowmobiling, skiing, golfing and his place in Naples, Florida. He especially enjoyed great times with his grandchildren. His passion was KarKraft for 38 years. He loved taking care of people.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sandy; sons, Scott (Joy), Todd (Tracy); Like a son, John (Chris) Darby; five grandchildren, Justin, Jakab, Zachary, John and Nicole; mother, Mary; sisters, Sue (Denny) Crooks, Cathy (Kevin) Carpenter, Peg (Mark) Severson and brothers-in-law, Chuck (Diane) Nicks and Butch Dietmeier; several nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father and sister, Marlyn.
The family would like to thank Dr. McCanse and the staff of Rockford Memorial Hospital and Cheryle Kendall of VNA Hospice for the kind support and care.
Funeral ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2010 in Anderson-Long-Klontz Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ltd., 6825 Weaver Road Rockford, IL with Rev. Les McClelland, Chaplin of Tebala Shrine officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday with a Masonic ceremony at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Shriners Children's Hospital.
