Gail R. Brecklin age 90 of Monroe, died Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Monroe. Gail was born August 11, 1923 in Wiota Township, the son of Herman and Louise (Karlen) Brecklin. He married Marion Jacobs on October 15, 1944. She preceded him in death in 1974. Gail married Frances Leuenberger on February 3, 1977 in Elkhorn, WI. Frances died on April 10, 2011. Gail farmed in Jefferson Township until 1974 and later was self employed as a carpenter. He enjoyed baseball, softball, throwing horseshoes, and playing cards.

He is survived by four children, Jane Brecklin, Susan (John) Webster, Robert Brecklin, and Barbara (Kenneth) Kelley; three step-children, Diane (Don) Nelson, Barbara (Don) Noble, and Ronald (Barb) Bauman; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; many step grandchildren; and two sisters, Esther Elmer and Gladys (Otto) Schild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, J. Edward and Glenn Brecklin; two sisters, Erma Anderson and Wilma Hansen; a step-son, John K. Bauman; and a step granddaughter, Morgan Bauman.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Pastor Randy Booth officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, followed by a luncheon at the Monroe American Legion Post #84. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in his name.
