GREEN COUNTY
FELONIES
Samantha Elizabeth Murray, 36, Brodhead, was charged Nov. 22 with three Class H felony counts of misappropriating another person's ID information and one misdemeanor count of credit card fraud. The charges stem from a series of incidents in late January 2015, when Murray reportedly made a series of purchases with an acquaintance's debit card at businesses in Janesville, Evansville and Brodhead between Jan. 27 and 30. In five transactions, Murray had spent approximately $275 to buy items such as clothes and gas. Murray had apparently obtained the card from the owner's son, who had given Murray the card before being imprisoned on an unrelated burglary case. Murray's initial appearance is scheduled for Dec. 19. If found guilty, she faces a maximum possible sentence of nine years in prison.
Bryan W. Jones, 21, Dodgeville, was charged Wednesday with a Class H felony count of taking and driving a vehicle without the owner's consent, a charge stemming from an incident May 11, 2015. On that day, Jones, while accompanying a friend to the Green County Justice Center, commandeered his friend's car and drove to Madison without said friend's consent. When Jones' friend began pursuing charges, Jones said he would return the car within 24 hours, before claiming that the car had been towed and he would be unable to do so. The vehicle was eventually returned with two parking tickets, superficial bumper damage and a missing key. Jones faces a maximum possible sentence of three years in prison if found guilty. His initial appearance will be Dec. 19.
Allen Scott Bechtolt, 32, Monroe, was charged Wednesday with a Class H felony count of bail jumping after an incident Nov. 12. Bechtolt was stopped by police for speeding on 11th Street in Monroe, according to police reports. Bechtolt was found to be driving with a revoked license, which, as a crime, violated his bond from a July case where he was charged with battery, disorderly conduct and the latest in a string of felony bail jumping charges. The charge carries a maximum possible sentence of three years in prison. Bechtolt's initial appearance will take place Jan. 9.
