Felonies
Eric D. Pallesen, 48, Monroe, entered a no contest plea on Tuesday, April 8, to felony charges of drunk driving, 5th or 6th offense, and operating with a prohibited blood alcohol concentration, 5th or 6th offense. According to court records, Pallesen was driving a 1968 red motorcycle on 1st Center Avenue, Brodhead, where an officer saw him swerving and crossing the center line. After stopping Palleson, the officer asked him to step off the bike and Palleson allegedly was stumbling and swaying, but the officer could not smell any intoxicants. Palleson refused to submit to either a blood test or a preliminary breath test and a warrant was issued to order a blood test. The test showed Pallesen had an alcohol concentration of .188 percent. He has a sentencing hearing set for May 5.
Misdemeanors
On Wednesday, April 9:
Michael R. Fricks, 24, Monroe, was ordered by the court to pay $5,500 in restitution fees to the victim whose vehicle he attempted to steal. Fricks was convicted of misdemeanor battery and taking a vehicle without consent on Aug. 30. Court records indicate on Jan. 2, 2013, Fricks hit a man in the face and attempted to tow away the man's vehicle by hooking it up to an ATV. Fricks became stuck in the snow while attempting to tow the vehicle and was arrested.
Jose Alejandro Olmos-Landa, 33, Beloit, was found guilty due to a no contest plea of hitting a man with his Jeep and fleeing the scene in April 2013. Court records indicate Olmos-Landa ran his Jeep into a man who was trying to turn off the dome light in his vehicle. Olmos-Landa then fled the scene but was later stopped by an officer who saw that his 2004 silver Jeep had extensive damage. The officer saw Olmos-Landa exhibiting signs of intoxication and performed a field sobriety test after Olmos-Landa was arrested. At the Green County Sheriff's office Olmos-Landa could not be properly booked because he was swaying significantly. He also reportedly vomited into a trash can. Olmos-Landa will serve 60 days in local jail with work release privileges. He will be on probation for 18 months and is ordered to undergo alcohol and other drugs assessment classes. Olmos-Landa owes the court $176. He was also convicted of first-offense driving while intoxicated and owes the court $930.50
