Brodhead Police

BRODHEAD — On May 28: 

● For the week of May 30 to June 5, police performed 37 security checks, 19 citizen assists, nine assists of other agencies, 16 follow-ups to incidents, 12 vehicle registration and six traffic stops; responded to 57 calls for service and reported 10 EMS calls, 18 911 or BEEMS (Brodhead Elderly Emergency Monitoring System) calls and four fire calls. One detox and no mental health transports were reported. 

On May 30: 

●  A broken car window was reported at 5:41 p.m. in the 1100 block of West 2nd Avenue. Police found it to be damaged by a rock from a mower. Both parties reached an agreement. No citations were issued. 

●  Loud music was reported at 6:20 p.m. in the 1400 block of East 3rd Avenue. 

On May 31: 

●  A Brodhead man, 48, was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated, operating with a prohibited blood alcohol concentration, driving without a valid license, possession of open intoxicants in vehicle and unnecessary acceleration at 1:18 a.m. in the 100 block of 1st Center Avenue. Additional charges are being referred to the Green County District Attorney’s Office. 

●  A dog at large was reported at 10:45 a.m. in the 700 block of 1st Center Avenue. The dog returned. 

●  A dog at large was reported at 11:55 a.m. in the 1600 block of East 4th Avenue. The dog was returned. 

●  A truck parked multiple days at a business was reported at 8:20 p.m. in the 2100 block of 1st Center Avenue. Officers were unable to contact owner. Vehicle was removed at some point. 

●  A Brodhead woman, 40, was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of open intoxicants in vehicle, non-registration of auto and speeding at 8:53 p.m. in the 1700 block of 1st Center Avenue. 

On June 1: 

●  A dead pelican in yard was reported at 12:26 p.m. in the 700 block of 8th Street. This was referred to the Wisconsin DNR. 

●  A Brooklyn man, 45, was cited for no proof of insurance at 5:04 p.m. in the 300 block of 1st Street. 

●  A Brodhead woman, 19, was cited for possession of THC and drug paraphernalia at 9:56 p.m. June 2 in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue. 

On June 3: 

●  A violation of the city’s dog limit ordinance was reported at 4:40 p.m. in the 1100 block of 14th Street. Police advised of kennel license. 

●  Verbal disorderly conduct was reported at 9:33 p.m. in the 2200 block of 1st Center Avenue. This was referred to the Green County District Attorney’s Office. 

On June 4: 

 ●  A Chicago woman, 37, was cited for failure to wear seatbelt at 9:41 a.m. in the 600 block of 1st Street. 

●  A Whitewater man, 52, was cited for unsafe backing and failure to notify police of accident at 1:21 p.m. in the 800 block of 8th Street. 

●  Fraud involving scam phone calls was reported at 3:23 p.m. Subject advised to monitor accounts. 

●  Garbage on the roadway was reported at 3:51 p.m. in the 200 block of 5th Street. Garbage was removed. 

●  A Brodhead man, 53, was cited for failure to yield in an uncontrolled intersection at 4:08 p.m. in the 1500 block of 16th Street. 

●  A Rock City, Illinois man, 42, was arrested on a warrant issued by Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office at 11:18 p.m. in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue. He was also cited for driving without a valid license. 

On June 5: 

●  Suspicious activity was reported at 1:38 a.m. in the 1100 block of 11th Street. It was found to be a fisherman. 

●  A subject attempting to use a counterfeit bill was reported at 9:34 a.m. in the 1600 block of 1st Center Avenue. This remains under investigation. 

●  A Brodhead man, 45, was cited for an animal at large at 10:31 a.m. in the 700 block of 13th Street. 

●  Prowling was reported at 11:59 p.m. in the 1700 block of East 2nd Avenue. This remains under investigation.

DARLINGTON — On May 28: 

●  A deputy responded to check welfare at 2:33 a.m. on Main Street in Gratiot and at 9:37 a.m. on Wis. 81, Town of Darlington. 

●  A deputy responded for a residential alarm at 12:21 p.m. on East Webster Street, Town of Benton. 

●  Daniel R. Horner, Roseland, Virginia, was cited for driving without a license and speeding at 6:17 p.m. on Wis. 23, Town of Darlington. 

●  A deputy assisted the Darlington Police Department with a vehicle unlock at 7:43 p.m. on Wells Street in Darlington. 

●  A deputy assisted the Darlington Police Department with a check welfare at 8:03 p.m. on Division Street in Darlington. 

●  Suspicious activity was reported at 8:33 p.m. on Mound Avenue Road, Town of Belmont. Belmont police assisted. 

●  Seth N. Johnson, 21, Darlington, was cited for speeding at 9:33 p.m. on Wis. 81, Town of Elk Grove. 

●  Suspicious activity was reported at 9:55 p.m. on Main Street in Gratiot. 

●  James J. Callanan, 56, Riverside, Illinois, was cited for speeding at 11:40 p.m. on Wis. 11 in South Wayne. 

On May 29: 

●  John R. Cockrell, 59, Blanchardville, was arrested by Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources on a third-offense charge of operating while intoxicated at 12:38 a.m. on Lake Road, Town of Blanchard. He was released. 

●  A traffic hazard was reported at 4:08 p.m. on County G, Town of Belmont. 

●  Criminal damage to property was reported at 8:01 p.m. on County D, Town of Wayne. 

●  Suspicious activity was reported at 9:19 p.m. on Horse Shoe Bend Road, Town of Benton. 

●  Disorderly conduct was reported at 10:30 p.m. on Bridge Street, Town of Gratiot. 

On May 30: 

●  Alexis Cervantes, 18, Belmont, was cited for driving without a license at 3:55 a.m. on Commerce Street in Belmont. 

●  An erratic driver was reported at 7:09 a.m. on Wis. 126, Town of Elk Grove. 

●  Criminal damage to property was reported at 12:09 p.m. on Engelke Drive in Belmont. 

●  Hipolito A. Chuy-Santos, 23, Shullsburg, was arrested on a charge of battery at 12:58 p.m. on East Mound Road in Belmont. He was released. 

●  Deputies assisted Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources with a traffic stop at 8:16 p.m. on County G, Town of Belmont. Matthew J. Ubersox, 43, Darlington, was arrested for knowingly fleeing an officer. He was jailed. 

●  A deputy assisted the Darlington Police Department at 8:41 p.m. on Washington Street in Darlington. 

●  A deputy assisted the Darlington Police Department with an ATV parking problem at 9:16 p.m. on Main Street in Darlington. 

On May 31: 

●  A 911 misdial was reported at 12:25 a.m. on County F, Town of Blanchard, at 2:19 p.m. on South Mound Avenue in Belmont, at 5:02 p.m. on East Milwaukee Street in Argyle and at 7:47 p.m. on County D, Town of Wiota. 

●  A deputy responded for a vehicle unlock at 10:11 a.m. on Lake Road, Town of Fayette and at 4:55 p.m. on North State Street in Argyle. 

●  A deputy responded to check welfare at 1:10 p.m. on Hillside Court in Shullsburg. 

●  Corey J. Harris, 35, Shullsburg, was cited for failure to fasten seatbelt at 1:44 p.m. on West Truth Street in Shullsburg. 

●  A deputy responded to keep the peace at 6:29 p.m. on West Harrison Street in Shullsburg. 

●  A civil dispute was reported at 8:42 p.m. on West Center Street in South Wayne. 

●  Disorderly conduct was reported at 9:11 p.m. on County G, Town of Willow Springs. 

On June 1: 

●  Disorderly conduct was reported at 1:12 a.m. on West Blackstone Street in Shullsburg. 

●  Molly M. McCartney, 42, Benton, was cited for failure to stop at stop sign at 6:06 a.m. on County H, Town of Benton. 

●  Kayla M. Hynes, 38, Livingston, was cited for failure to stop at stop sign at 6:44 a.m. on County H, Town of Benton. 

●  Jason A. Moen, 50, Argyle, was cited for failure to fasten seatbelt at 8:34 a.m. on Wis. 81, Town of Argyle. 

●  Littering was reported at 8:36 a.m. on Center Drive Road, Town of Belmont and at 4:47 p.m. on West Mound Road, Town of Belmont. 

●  A civil dispute was reported at 9:26 a.m. on Wildcat Road, Town of Darlington. 

●  Livestock on the roadway was reported at 11:07 a.m. on County F, Town of Willow Springs. 

●  Colleen K. Riley, 61, Gratiot, was cited for failure to fasten seatbelt at 2:43 p.m. on Wis. 78, Town of Gratiot. 

●  Janet K. Jenson, 37, Darlington, was cited for speeding and no proof of vehicle insurance at 5:03 p.m. on County P, Town of Gratiot. 

●  Property damage was reported at 6:30 p.m. on School Street in Gratiot. 

On June 2: 

●  Disorderly conduct was reported at 1:11 a.m. on South Iowa Street in Shullsburg. 

●  Aundrea R. Findley, 23, Clinton, Iowa, was arrested at 12:51 p.m. on a Lafayette County warrant in Clinton. Findley was jailed. 

●  Theft was reported at 12:55 p.m. on County F, Town of Darlington and at 8:19 p.m. on Sunny Lane, town of Belmont. 

●  Suspicious activity was reported at 4 p.m. on Madden Road, Town of Belmont. 

●  A deputy assisted with traffic control at 8:35 p.m. on Wis. 23, Town of Darlington. 

●  Shawn M. Ryan, 38, Shullsburg, was arrested on a probation and parole warrant at 10:59 p.m. on Wis. 11 in Shullsburg as a result of a welfare check. He was jailed.
