DARLINGTON — A 19-year-old Platteville man pleaded not guilty to seven Lafayette County charges.
Anthony D. McWilliams waived his preliminary hearing June 22 on possession with intent to deliver 5 to 15 grams cocaine, possession of intent to deliver narcotics, possession with intent to deliver up to 200 grams of THC, possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor bail jumping.
A status conference is scheduled for Sept. 14. He is free on $750 signature bond with the conditions he not possess or consume nonprescription medication or drug paraphernalia, according to court records.
McWilliams went three months after failing to appear in court for his arraignment on the charges before Platteville police responded to a report of two people yelling at each other in the intersection of West Cedar Street and North Bonson Street April 17 around 3:35 p.m. Officers arrested a man who tried to leave the area on foot and had warrants from Platteville and two other law enforcement agencies.
McWilliams was first arrested after a Lafayette County deputy sheriff responded to a welfare check in the Town of Belmont Nov. 13 around 2:35 a.m.
McWilliams also faces a Grant County charge of possession of amphetamine, LSD or psilocin for an incident June 11. McWilliams pleaded not guilty to the charge Aug. 29. A status conference on that charge is set for next Wednesday.
