MONROE — The city is poised to sell a vacant piece of land on 21st street.

The property is near the bike trail and Little Learners Day Care. According to City Administrator Brittney Rindy, Malinda Rhae Mihalakis and Ryan Lee Truong want to purchase the land and close on the sale on April 1, 2024. The property has never been developed.

The couple intend to build and open a new salon/spa at the location, she said. The sale price is about $22,000.

“We have a fair offer,” said Monroe City Attorney Dan Bartholf. “We haggled…and finally agreed on a price.”

The land had not been actively marketed for sale, according to Bartholf, speaking at the Aug. 14 city Finance and Taxation committee meeting. But city officials are nonetheless welcoming the chance to get it back on the tax rolls.

The purchase would still need approval from the full Common Council to go forward.
