On June 17:

● 5:22 p.m. Deputies, Darlington Fire, and Lafayette County EMS responded to intersection of STH 23 and Short Cut RD, Willow Springs Township for a two vehicle accident. Hector O. Artica-Diaz, 33, Darlington was traveling on STH 23 when a vehicle operated by Luis E. Alarcon-Garcia entered the lane of travel causing Artica-Diaz to strike the vehicle. Artica-Diaz and Alarcon-Garcia reported no injuries, but Artica-Diaz’s three passengers, Josue N. Velasquez-Rodriguez, 33, Freeport, Lilian Licona-Mendoza, 31, Darlington, and Merlin I. Velasquez Argueta, 31, Darlington were transported to the hospital for minor injuries sustained during the crash. Both Artica-Diaz’s 2017 Toyota and Alarcon-Garcia’s 2013 GMC received disabling damage and were towed from the scene. Alarcon-Garcia was cited for No Insurance and Failure to Yield to Oncoming Traffic. Darlington Police assisted.
