On July 4:

● 11:27 p.m. A deputy, South Wayne Fire, South Wayne First Response, and Green County EMS responded to CTH N, Wayne Township for a UTV accident. Russell R. Ruesgsegger, 51, South Wayne was operating his 2017 Honda, travelling southbound CTH N when he left the roadway and entered the ditch. Ruesgsegger and passenger, Sheila M. Ruegsegger, 49, South Wayne were transported to Monroe Hospital. Ruesgsegger’s Honda received disabling damage and towed from the scene. Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources assisted.

On July 5:

● 8:27 a.m. A deputy responded to Ipswitch RD, Elk Grove Township for a one vehicle accident. James L. Hammill, 44, Platteville was operating his 2007 Cadillac when he failed to negotiate a curve, continued off the roadway, entered the ditch, entering the corn field where he came to a stop near a water way. Hammill reported no injuries. Hammill’s Cadillac received disabling damage and towed from the scene. Hammill was cited for Failure to Maintain Control and Failure to Notify Law Enforcement of an Accident.

On July 6:

● 2:16 p.m. Deputies, Darlington Fire, and Lafayette County EMS responded to STH 23, Darlington Township for a two vehicle accident. David M. Germaine, 27, Cuba City was traveling on STH 23 in his 2007 Chevrolet when a 2015 Chevrolet operated by Bonita K. Vondra, 74, Warren IL failed to yield to oncoming traffic causing Germaine to strike Vondra’s vehicle. Both Germaine and Vondra reported minor injuries. Both vehicles received disabling damage and were towed from the scene. Vondra was cited for Failure to Yield to Right of Way.

On July 7:

● 4:22 p.m. A deputy responded to CTH G, Willow Springs Township for a two vehicle accident. Cynthia J. Fitzsimons, 54, Mineral Point was traveling on CTH G when she struck an Oliver tractor in a driveway that was being operated by Roger P. Johnson, 76, Mineral Point. No injuries were reported. Johnson’s tractor received no damage and Fitzsimons’ 2020 Jeep received functional damage and was driven from the scene.

On July 9:

● 10:48 p.m. A deputy, Benton Fire, Benton First Response and Hazel Green EMS responded to Carr Factory RD, Benton Township for a one-vehicle accident. Logan M. Rury, 17, Hazel Green was operating his 2002 Chevrolet southbound on Carr Factory RD when the vehicle left the roadway, entered the ditch, returned to the roadway, lost control entering the opposite ditch, striking an embankment and overturned. Rury was transported to Mercy Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Rury’s Chevrolet was towed from the scene.

On July 10:

● 1:42 a.m. Gerson Cerrato-Salgado, 26, Darlington was cited for No Insurance and Operating Without a Valid License (OWL – 1st Offense) on CTH F, Fayette Township.

On July 11:

● 4:50 a.m. Leanne R. Myers, 62, Davis Junction, IL reported striking a deer on CTH G, Kendall Township. Myers and her passenger reported no injuries. The 2019 GMC Myers was operating received functional damage and was driven from the scene.

On July 12:

1:37 p.m. A deputy responded to Nobel ST, Village of Gratiot for a two vehicle accident. Brian S. Sigafus, 54, Gratiot, was operating his 2021 Polaris when he failed to yield to oncoming traffic causing him to strike a 2015 Chevrolet operated by Jolene M. Thommen, 70, Warren, IL. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles received functional damage and were driven from the scene.

● 11:21 p.m. Colton A. Frazier, 29, Friendship was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI – 2nd Offense), Possession of THC, and a Probation Violation on STH 81, Argyle Township. Frazier was transported to Lafayette County Jail where he was booked. Frazier was also cited for Operating After Suspension (OAS), Operating Without Insurance, and Non-Registration of Auto. Darlington Police and K9 assisted.

On July 17:

● 7:48 a.m. Hunter S. Martindale, 27, Beloit reported striking a deer on CTH G, Fayette Township. Martindale reported no injuries. Martin-dale’s Mercury received disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

● 9:54 p.m. Marcio A. Chu Rojas, 41, Platteville was cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle After Dark Without an Instructor on STH 126, Elk Grove Township.

● 10:56 p.m. Arthur L. Eleby, 38, Calumet Park IL was cited for Operating After Suspension (OAS) and Open Intoxicants on E Main ST, Village of Benton. Eleby’s passenger, Charles A. Gibson, 38, Worth IL was arrested for Possession of Cocaine, Possession of THC, and Resisting Arrest. Gibson was transported to Lafayette County Jail where he was booked. Gibson was also cited for Open Intoxicants.

On July 19:

● 9:13 p.m. Steven T. Wiegel, 36, Darlington was cited for Reckless Driving, Operating a Motorcycle Without a Valid License on STH 81, Seymour Township.

On July 20:

● 9:07 a.m. A deputy responded to CTH W, Benton Township for a one vehicle accident. Alexis F. Smith, 32, Hazel Green was traveling on CTH W when she failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, entered the ditch, where she came to a rest after striking a fence and utility box. Smith reported no injuries. Smith’s 2001 Honda received disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Smith was cited for Failure to Maintain Control and Operating Without Insurance.

On July 21:

● 6:11 a.m. A deputy responded to CTH W, Monticello Township for a one vehicle accident. Pablo E. Sanchez Morales, 35, Elk Grove IL was traveling on CTH W when he lost control, crossed the center line, entered the ditch, and struck an embankment. Sanchez Morales reported no injuries. Sanchez Morales’ 2022 Mercedes received disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Sanchez Morales was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.

● 10:12 a.m. A deputy, Darlington Fire, and Lafayette County EMS responded to CTH F, Fayette Township for a vehicle vs chopper accident. James R. Ackley, 21, Darlington was operating a Claas chopper on CTH F when he moved over to allow a vehicle to pass. Ackley attempted to reenter the roadway due to unsafe road conditions and struck the truck operated by Jeremy L. Bergeron, 52, Cobb. Ackley reported no injuries. Bergeron was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the crash. Bergeron’s 2023 Ford received disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Ackley’s Claas chopper received functional damage and was driven from the scene. Darlington Police assisted.

On July 23:

● 10:19 a.m. A deputy assisted Darlington Police on CTH K in the City to assist Lafayette County Human Services. Austin J. Penniston, 45, Argyle was arrested for a probation violation. Penniston was transported to the Lafayette County Jail where he was booked.

● 6:09 p.m. Ryker A. Corley, 14, Darlington was cited for Unauthorized Operation of ATV by Person Under Age 16 Route Unless Accompanied by Parent or Designated Adult. Brody Kammerud, 13, Darlington was cited for Unauthorized Operation of ATV by Person Under Age 16 Route Unless Accompanied by Parent or Designated Adult on CTH K, Darlington Township.

On July 25:

● 9:06 p.m. Olivia G. Schultz, 27, New Lisbon was arrested on a valid Dane County Warrant on STH 11, Wayne Township. Schultz was transported to Dane County Jail where she was booked.
