Monroe man arrested for 5th OWI in Dane Co.

MADISON — A Monroe man was arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol on suspicion of fifth offense OWI on Aug. 22.

A Trooper with the Wisconsin State Patrol stopped out with a disabled motor vehicle on the shoulder of the interstate at the 137 northbound milemarker on I-39/90/94. During their contact with the driver, Don D. Bennett, 55, Monroe, the Trooper noted signs of impairment.

A roadside investigation was conducted including standardized field sobriety tests.

Bennett was transported to a local hospital for a legal blood draw prior to being booked into the Dane County jail on charges on Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) 5th offense.
